About Event

Join us and Margaret Horning (she/her) in learning about a key component of mutual aid and circular economies—the Free Store!

Margaret is one of the organizers who developed the Astoria Food Pantry's Free Store right here in Western Queens. The Free Store is an essential part of keeping our neighbors clothed (and keeping our unwanted clothing out of the landfill). Our team is currently working with Margaret to develop a Free Store of our very own—art supply style!

During this class you'll:

Get insight into the history of gift/circular economies
Learn what it takes to build a physical free store
Tour the in-progress Art Supply Free Store

MASK REMINDER:
The Collaboratory is a *Masks Required* space. 😷 We also run two air filters/purifiers during our gatherings. If you don't arrive with a mask, don't worry—we'll have them available at the door.
