About Ramfis Myrthil | Follow him @ramfismyrthilofficial

Ramfis Myrthil is an award-winning filmmaker, producer, and avid storyteller from New York City. Born to Haitian immigrants, he intimately understands the perils of existing as a person of color in America and has made it his life’s work and journey to give a voice to the voiceless. His films explore the experiences of people of color, women, and the LGBTQ community––edifying themes of passion, integrity, and authenticity in all stories told.

As a founding partner and President of Beast of the East Productions (BOTEP), the highlights of Ramfis’ career are ever-growing. He had the privilege to produce the Mary Pickford biopic “Why Not Choose Love: A Mary Pickford Manifesto” and was recently accepted in the 2018 Sundance Film Festival with the film “A Boy. A Girl. A Dream.” starring Meagan Good and Omari Hardwick.  After ranking in the top 18 films at the Sundance Film Festival, “A Boy. A Girl. A Dream.” earned national distribution with Samuel Goldwyn Films and debuted on Amazon Prime and STARZ network in 2019.

Ramfis also had his first film, “Love and the Small Print,” debut at the Cannes Film Festival, and other projects of his have been featured in Shorts International and 40+ other festivals around the world.

Ramfis also produced Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees and Rolling Stone’s list of Greatest Albums of All Time––The Zombie’s first-ever music video, “Any Other Way.” Ramfis tours the country, speaking at the world’s most prestigious schools and festivals, from locally at New York University to internationally at the Cannes Film Festival. His continued growth and success in the film industry earned him a spot in Stars’ 2018 40 Under 40 list.

Ramfis’ passion for film is also matched by his passion of giving. He serves with several non-profits: Mythic Bridge, I Can Still Do That Foundation, Teach for America, Schools That Can, and Blacks on Wall Street. As a part of his strategy to develop a strong pipeline of future top filmmakers, Ramfis has also participated as a judge for the 2018 BAFTA Student Film Awards as well as a mentor for the Arts, Entertainment & Media Academy Field Day at John Muir High School in Pasadena, CA.

Ramfis is humbled by his latest accomplished–– new film, “A Man and His Trumpet, The Leroy Jones Story,” winning the State of Louisiana’s Endowment for the Humanities Award. It will be released by Good Docs at universities and conferences nationwide.
