About Event

Dance as play provides a framework to connect to joy, pleasure and creativity to our bodies, as well as to feel how our weight grounds us to the earth. Muscle memory in expressive movements like dance provides a framework within which we can tap into the ease, creativity, and freedom that lives in our body.

We will learn simple steps from street dance styles – particularly Waacking and House – and draw on the plant and animal allies around us to find variations on the step that feel good for our individual bodies and expressions.

LOCATION: Prospect Park (We will meet at the Grand Army Plaza Entrance ~10 minutes before and then walk over together).

ALL PROCEEDS GO TO GLITS (gays & lesbians living in a transgender society) creates holistic solutions to the health and housing crises faced by TGBLQIA+ individuals experiencing systemic discrimination at intersecting oppressions impacted by racism and criminalization, through a lens of harm reduction, human rights principles, social justice and community empowerment, imbued with a commitment to empowerment and pride in finding solutions in our own community.

FACILITATOR BIO:

A is a journalist, writer, and amateur dancer living in brooklyn. they seek to somatically experience connection to land, collectively build spaces of futurity, and locate freedom in the body.

Cy X is a Pleasure Ceremonialist dedicated to the magnificent realms of eros where they work with the body as a tool of direct communication with the psyche.

Using an eco-erotic framework, they ask the question: How can the erotic be the way to reclaiming our bodies, our power, and our ability to connect with ourself, each other, and the more-than-humxn world around us?
