Drawing as Seeing: Fruit Salad
In this iteration of Drawing as Seeing, aptly titled Fruit Salad, we’ll be learning how to draw from observation using color soft pastels. Fruit has historically been used as a subject matter in art as representations of various abstract concepts. Examples could be a basket of fresh fruits representing vitality or abundance, while decaying fruit could represent change or a reminder of our mortality.
Touching on color and going over basic drawing principles such as line, contour, and positive/ negative space, we’ll be using the time honored tradition of fruit still life as our subject matter. Afterwards we’ll start our own tradition here at Drawing Room as we cut, compose, and serve our fruit still life into a delicious fruit salad for us all to share!
