Wheelchair Hacking Night: Exploring WHILL Tech and Battery Mods
Join us at General Lithium for an evening of wheelchair hacking! Whether you're a powerchair user, reverse engineering enthusiast, or just curious about assistive tech, this is the event for you!
We’ll be diving deep into the WHILL Fi and Ci wheelchair motor controllers and battery systems. From reprogramming controllers to possibly making these machines go faster and finding cheaper battery solutions, this event is all about taking things apart and learning how to improve them.
Topics we’ll explore include:
Reverse engineering wheelchair motor controllers
Bypassing unwanted safety restrictions
Building a more affordable battery (no more $700 replacements!)
DIY charger tech that could save money
Sharing insights on right-to-repair requests - more information may be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VqengvEfsBs
We’ll also test our hybrid event setup for the first time! If you'd like to join virtually via Jitsi or Zoom, let us know—we’ll do our best to accommodate.
