ACCESSIBILITY IN DESIGN:
A Conversation with Paralympian Maria Liana Mutia

In celebration of the Lunar New Year, AAPI Design Alliance Philadelphia will host Christie Ileto of 6ABC Action News for a rich conversation with Paralympian Silver Medalist Maria Liana Mutia about her inspiring life as an elite athlete and Tech Accessibility Consultant. The Filipino born expert, who lost her eyesight at 17, will speak to her lived experience and journey as a champion on the field and a champion for digital inclusion. As technology becomes an ever-greater part of daily life, from online education and telemedicine to social interactions and employment, accessibility is no longer just a "nice-to-have" feature—it's essential for equal participation in society. A background screen will provide a demonstration of the accessible technology that Maria uses to communicate for home + work.
