---------DAY 1 Nov 23-------------
Intro to World Building - Pia Massie
10am-12pm
How do we interface with the world? How do we interface with eachother? Exploring the theme of “INTERFACES”, Pia Massie will lead us through a series of world-building exercises that ask us to envision the type of world we want to build, and future we want to live in. The culmination of this workshop will set the landscape for the rest of the weekend, as we realize our collective ideas by building digital and physical interfaces in TouchDesigner, Arduino and more in the proceeding events.
LUNCH - 12-1pm (Lunch provided)
Intro to TouchDesigner Part I - Alyssa Haas and Greg Borreson
1pm-3:30pm
This introductory workshop is ideal for beginners with no prior experience. Participants will learn the basics of the TouchDesigner interface, including key components such as CHOPs, SOPs, TOPs, DATs, and Containers. Attendees will get comfortable with node-based workflows while building a simple interactive project. The workshop will also cover collaboration by sending data over a network and incorporating found footage and material into the project.
Intro to TouchDesigner Part II - Alyssa Haas and Greg Borreson
3pm-6pm
In this continuation workshop, participants will apply their learning through hands-on projects. The session will focus on gathering and using real-world materials to enhance their projects and provide opportunities for collaboration. Attendees will also receive one-on-one guidance and feedback from peer advisors to refine their work.
---------DAY 2 Nov 24-------------
Workshop TBA - Maryam Mobini
10:30am - 12pm
TBD!
LUNCH - 12-1pm (Lunch provided)
ULTRASONIC THEREMIN WORKSHOP - Chris Jung and Triane Tambay
1pm-4pm
The Theremin, a unique instrument, traditionally requires intricate assembly, but in this workshop, we’ll simplify the process using an Arduino and sensor. Participants will learn to create and control electronic sounds by hand movement, using an ultrasonic sensor and Touchdesigner to create customizable sounds with accessible code. This workshop will explore integrating Arduino into interactive sound art, focusing on sound creation and manipulation, welcoming both novices and experts to participate.
This hands-on approach allows learners to experiment, make mistakes, and learn in a low-pressure environment. Participants will manipulate physical objects to understand abstract concepts, fostering a deeper understanding of technological principles.
Websockets Metaverse - Jonny Ostrem + Viv O’brien
4:30-7:30pm
Participants will explore websockets and their role in modern web development. They will learn why websockets are important and how they can be used in conjunction with the other skills learned over the weekend. The workshop will involve sending data across the internet, facilitating real-time collaboration with others.
