About Tokyo Fail Club

「Tokyo Fail Club」

Tokyo Fail Club is a community where creative people share their real, vulnerable stories about failure. Our goal is to create a place where people can celebrate failure, and challenge ideas of what success looks like.

At each event, we gather with food and drinks to hear speakers tell stories from a time they experienced failure and lessons they learned through the experiences, before opening up to Q&A and open networking time.

Hope you join us at the next failure club!

Melynie Yoneda

Senior Sales Manager, Crimtan A Global digital marketing expert with experience covering the ad agency, media and ad tech, Melynie is currently senior sales manager at Crimtan Japan KK.

She also serves as co-chair for the U.S.-Japan Council Japan region and vice-chair for the American Chamber of Commerce Japan's Young Professionals Forum.

2024 was supposed to be "the year of racket sports"—expecting a cute, active new chapter filled with pickleball games and breezy skirts. In her talk, Melynie will share about her humbling journey through the stages of racket sports grief, and the lessons she learned along the way.

Alejandro Pascual

Co-Founder, Gallows

A third-time entrepreneur from Mexico, Alejandro has spent the last 12 years moving between China, Korea, and now Japan, where he is now building his own Startup: Gallows. He is focusing on creating AI tools that free people from busywork to make them richer in the most valuable currency: Time.

Alejandro came to Japan chasing a dream: building a business that connected Japan to the world. Instead, he found himself trapped in an environment of toxic overwork with no apparent way out. He’ll talk about the red flags so clear in hindsight, sacrifices made and lessons learned.

Viran Pandya

Founder and Coach at The Gaijin Smash

Initially a history teacher in London, Viran moved to Japan, transitioned into PR, and rose to VP at one of the world’s biggest agencies. In 2022, he took a year of paternity leave and started a coaching business. He later left his corporate role and now helps high achievers prioritize, avoid burnout, and build real work-life balance.

After years spent climbing the corporate ladder in Japan, Viran reflects on his experience working in Japan, and the lessons he’s learned since becoming a stay-at-home dad and coach for successful professionals.
