Understanding Debt and Responsible Borrowing Practices
Debt is a powerful tool when managed responsibly, but it can also lead to financial difficulties if not handled properly. This workshop will provide participants with the knowledge and strategies to navigate debt responsibly and make informed borrowing decisions that align with their financial goals.
Objectives:
By the end of this workshop, participants will gain insights into:
Different types of debt, including their risks and benefits.
Effective strategies for managing existing debt and avoiding financial pitfalls.
Responsible borrowing practices, including how to assess affordability before taking on debt.
Guest Speaker:
We are honored to have Jean Paul Nyereka as our guest speaker. Jean Paul's journey is one of resilience and innovation. Over a 12-year period, Jean Paul rapidly advanced in the banking sector, receiving seven promotions while working with RBC and BMO. He also achieved his CPA designation, resourcefully paying for his exams with a credit card, a testament to his perseverance.
Perhaps most notably, Jean Paul is the creator of the Financial Wellness Score, an innovative alternative to traditional credit scores. This tool helps Canadians set priorities and take their first steps toward financial wellness. Today, Jean Paul works as a consultant, supporting small and medium-sized businesses as well as non-profits, addressing complex business challenges and promoting financial literacy.
