Lunchtime conversation with guest Erin Clements

Emily invites Erin and Vamshi to share their stories about being involved in the Birdland Community garden, which has been bringing their Halifax neighbourhood together to grow food since 2021. Through pot lucks in the the park and a watering duty roster, this collaborative approach to urban vegetable gardening has built a resilient community that learns together, grows together and celebrates the harvest together.

During the final half hour, we will engage in small breakout groups and then return for a final Q&A with our guests.

Erin Clements is the garden coordinator and one of the founders of Birdland Community Garden in the community of Clayton Park in Halifax.

Vamshi Chaitanya is a budding gardener who just completed his first season in community gardening. With a keen interest in learning and experimenting, he has embraced the challenges and joys of gardening with enthusiasm.
