About Event

Brown Girl Mag x Neerja PR invite you to 'The Bollywood-Hollywood Crossover in Film & TV,' a fireside chat hosted by Shaina Zafar, formerly the co-founder of JUV Consulting, and now an executive at UTA's Next Gen, on Monday, April 29th at 6PM at LinkedIn HQ in the iconic Empire State Building.

Sitting together for the first time ever, Shaina will lead a chat with Rohini Iyer, one of the most influential women in the world of business and entertainment. An entrepreneur who has earned the moniker of "Rainmaker," Rohini is the founder and director of a group of companies called Rain Reign. She is also the founder of India's leading media management company Raindrop Media that has worked with the who's who of Bollywood over the past decade including Katrina Kaif, Anil Kapoor, Tiger Shroff, and Rajkumar Rao, among many others.

With countless awards and accolades under her belt, Rohini will discuss anecdotes about her journey, the doors she's opened for others, the evolution of Bollywood and how Indian cinema is continuing to grow its international footprint, especially in the South Asian diaspora.

Rohini will be joined by Indian-American actress Avantika Vandanapu, who recently played the iconic role of Karen Shetty in the newly released classic, "Mean Girls." In addition to her Hollywood debut, Avantika has already done a string of films in Telugu and Tamil, which will lend itself to a robust conversation with Rohini and the crossover of Hollywood and Bollywood we're seeing across media, TV and film.

With Shaina's background in all things media and marketing through her agency JUV Consulting, she will draw parallels and unique differences between Rohini & Avantika's journeys, and touch on numerous points tied to building and maintaining a career in film and tv across the diaspora.

In an effort to bridge our worlds, we hope the conversation will pave the way for many more aspiring actors, directors, producers and screenwriters to believe in themselves and make a name in our space. <3

The evening will include bites and beverages for our guests and attendees (to be announced soon). A run of show will be released closer to the event as well.

Photography and videography will be present throughout the evening. A ticket and I.D. is mandatory upon entry.
