About the Program

Strong leadership is essential to moving Tough Tech from breakthrough research into real-world impact. This six-week, in-person course, led by The Engine Expert in Residence, Jaye Goldstein, is designed for early-stage Tough Tech leaders who want to strengthen their management skills and build high-performing teams.

Through a mix of interactive discussion, practical frameworks, and guided self-reflection, participants will:

  • Build a toolkit of strategies that foster high performance in individuals and teams.

  • Learn management practices tailored to the realities of early-stage startups.

  • Identify personal leadership strengths and target areas for growth.

  • Create an actionable, individualized plan for continued development.

Topics include psychological safety, organizational design, onboarding and offboarding strategies, interrupting bias, and culture building.

This program is open primarily to The Engine’s resident companies, with a limited number of seats available to non-residents. Non-resident participation includes a 30‑day Flex Pass Membership, providing access to The Engine’s shared workspace and community resources during the course.

Enrollment is capped at 30 participants to ensure a highly engaged learning environment.
