U of A x AWS DeepRacer Challenge
Join us for an exciting two-day competition hosted at the University of Alberta’s Artificial Intelligence Discovery Place, where machine learning meets high-speed racing! The AWS DeepRacer Challenge, powered by Amazon Web Services (AWS), invites local students and AI enthusiasts to showcase their skills in building and racing fully autonomous 1/18th scale race car.
Event Highlights:
Innovative Racing Experience: Move aside Formula 1, AWS DeepRacer features cutting-edge 1/18th scale autonomous cars with all-wheel drive, monster truck tires, an HD camera, and an on-board computer. Watch as these mini racers come to life on the track!
Machine Learning Challenge: Participants will use reinforcement learning to develop their models and compete in the AWS DeepRacer Challenge. The top contenders will advance to the championship, where their virtual models will be put to the test in a real-world racing environment. Participants will gain hands-on experience evaluating and training their machine learning models in a virtual simulator before showcasing their skills on the track.
Open to All Skill Levels: The competition is designed for students and recent alumni of all skill levels and disciplinaries. Students must sign up in teams of 1 (individual) or teams of 2 and must submit one only registration as a team.
Location: Artificial Intelligence Discovery Place, Enterprise Square
Date & Time: Friday, November 29th, 9:00 am-12:00 pm (Workshop) + Saturday, November 30th 8:00 am-3:00 pm (Race Day). Participants must be available both days.
