Rachel Stern, a Fulbright scholar originally from sunny California, studied journalism at Columbia University and now works as a freelance journalist and editor in Germany. She has written for The Local, and her reporting has appeared in Spiegel Online, Die Zeit, Deutsche Welle, and The Huffington Post, among others.
Jesse George is an expert in media, culture, and public affairs, with over 15 years of experience as a speaker, moderator, and communications strategist. His career has included positions at the United Nations in New York, the American Embassy in Berlin, and Tagesschau, among many others. Though not a Fulbright scholar himself, Jesse has a strong connection to the Fulbright community, combining his expertise in international relations.
Viktor Hübner is a photographer and writer whose work explores themes of community, ideology, class, and socio-political tensions. He uses photography, audio interviews, and written accounts to document his subjects. In 2022, he published his first book, The Americans I Met.
Johannes Ehrmann is a journalist at ZEIT Online and the author of several non-fiction books. His areas of focus include family, migration, and masculinity. His latest book, Sons of Freedom, which explores the German founders of the USA, was published in September 2023.
Alexandra Schaller is a journalist at the FUNKE Mediengruppe. She began her career as a video and audio journalist at t-online, Germany's largest news portal, and is now the head of audio and podcasting for FUNKE.
Each one will take the stage for a creative lightning talk, a whirlwind tour of their journalism journey, current projects, and the unique perspectives gained through their Fulbright experience.
