About Event

Moral Injury

This call will be a special edition 90 minute Coffee Corner Call, led by Dr. Catherine Baillie Abidi is an Associate Professor with the Department of Child and Youth Study at Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax, Canada.

We wanted to bring this as a Monthly Learning Call and have Catherine present on the calls to host the discussion for us as we understand this concept, but due to a tricky time zone it wasn't possible to have her do both calls, so we decided to host this as a longer Coffee Corner Call in August.

Moral Injury as a concept has been increasingly coming up in our learning and discussions, particularly in our calls on Forced Criminality, so this call will be an opportunity to understand and grapple with this generally more theoretical concept.

Dr. Catherine Baillie Abidi has over 25 years of humanitarian, violence prevention and peacebuilding experience. Her research focuses on children, peace and security, prioritizing participatory research with communities and centering the experiences of children and youth. She also leads research on the socio-political dimensions of moral injury with Veterans and frontline workers engaged in complex contexts with young people. Dr. Baillie Abidi is a scholarly practitioner who has published widely and is committed to leading the development of new social policy and enhanced children’s rights frameworks, with children and youth.
