Build Your AI Idea in Six Weeks
Overview
Join a 6-week online initiative to build your AI idea with the support of a passionate community.
You can work at your own pace online with a team, learn from research and industry experts, and connect with new people in the field.
No in-person attendance is required and this initiative is free of charge.
Who's this For?
Developers, entrepreneurs, or students passionate about building an AI-driven project.
Skills needed: A good grasp of Python
Flexible schedule: Works well for those with full-time jobs or full time studies
Work at your own pace, online, during nights and weekends.
How does it work?
Team Formation: In the first week (Dec 2rd), be prepared to join a project that you are excited about. It could be one that you have proposed or someone else's.

Communication: Get access to a Discord community for regular teachings, personalized feedback, and support from facilitators and the community when you apply.
Agenda: Each week includes: 1 online lecture and 1 online check-in.
Kickoff and demo session will be held at Northeastern University in downtown Vancouver where there will be food and prizes, but people can join in through zoom.

Propose a Project Idea or Join an Existing One
Week 1: Orientation (Dec 2nd 2024)
In-person kickoff
Finalize teams and project ideas
Network with fellow participants
Receive guidance on how to bring an AI idea to life with examples and a lecture
Weeks 2-4: Development
Begin building out your ideas, with facilitators and other participants offering support through Discord
Check-ins and lectures every week
Week 5: Refinement
User testing and gathering feedback from other teams
Start preparing demos or presentations
Final check-in and lecture
Week 6: Demos (Jan 6 2025)

Facilitators
Issam Laradji
Research Scientist at ServiceNow and an Adjunct Professor at University of British Columbia. He has a postdoc from McGill and a PhD from the University of British Columbia, and his research interests include natural language processing, computer vision, and large-scale optimization.
Kosay Jabre
Senior Software Engineer at Meta. Years of industry experience in building and scaling AI systems that solve real world problems. Interest in large language models and AI infrastructure.
