Plein Air Watercolor: Central Park
Let’s go on a journey outside with our watercolors in hand. We’ll discover the unique differences between painting in the comfort of a studio where time stands still, and painting outside, “en plein air”. Get introduced to a variety of watercolor techniques such as wet on wet, wet on dry, flat wash, and gradients but also how to work with these techniques while outdoors.
Plein air watercolor painting asks you to observe and think on your feet as your surroundings change all around you! Clouds shift, the sun sets, or that squirrel darts up a tree. What do we do? We’ll talk about how to prioritize different elements in our images and quickly block in forms and information so that, yes, you can finish painting that small cute animal that ran away!
Feel free to bring along a snack and beverage. And we highly recommend a blanket to sit on for your comfort.
