T-Rex World Championship Races at Emerald Downs
Unleash your inner dinosaur at the highly anticipated T-Rex World Championship Races! Taking place on August 17th, this fan-favorite event transforms our horse racing track into a prehistoric playground as participants don inflatable Tyrannosaurus rex costumes and race to the finish line. Gates open at 11:30 AM and Thoroughbread 🐎 Races begin at 1:30 PM. Prior to and in between Dino Races, Emerald Downs continues with their itinerary of Thoroughbred horse races so this is a really cool experience to get a little derby AND have a jurassic-sized laugh. 🐎🦖
TIMING:
Dino Races are held in between the horse races so plan to get there by 1:30 at the latest but being there early to walk around, see the horses, and catch the Dinos suiting up is a lot of fun so I recommend getting there by 12-12:30!

Grand Stand ($13)
To try and keep our group together, I recommend purchasing GS tickets in Grand Stand SECTION 18, rows A-C
Any ticket gives you access to the General Admission area. Last year we had GS tickets, started there and then moved around. GS Seating was very open and not highly monitored but General Admission was more crowded so feel free to choose your section based on the viewing experience you want!
DRIVING & PARKING:
Closer to the day of the event, we will arrange carpooling VIA THE GROUP CHAT ON WHATSAPP and will support the driver getting the parking passes ($15). Make sure to purchase one (here) if you plan on going alone or bringing your own crew!
VIEWING VS RACING:
Did you know you can be IN the Dinosaur Races?!?!
You heard that right! Participation to race is first come, first serve and you are required to provide your own inflatable dinosaur costume (specifically T-Rex, preference on the mainstream design/color). Day of entries are also permitted starting at 10 AM in the Park area (South end of racetrack). It is free to race but you will still need to purchase a ticket for entry! Sign Up To Race Here
WHAT TO WEAR:
Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable but I say let's make this a whole event and dress proper Derby - that means summer dresses and big hats! Here are some links for inspiration:
