This high-level side-event fosters an inclusive dialogue on operationalizing the Tropical Forest Forever Facility (TFFF) with a strong rights-based lens.
Objectives:
Foster dialogue on the operationalisation of the TFFF, focusing on the roles of Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IPs and LCs).
Explore how the 20% minimum allocation for IPs and LCs can be safeguarded in practice.
Discuss how direct access mechanisms can be effectively prioritized.
Identify practical pathways to ensure transparent, equitable, and accountable disbursement of forest finance.
Showcase concrete examples of autonomous forest governance and climate action by IPs and LCs.
Contribute recommendations to the TFFF Secretariat and key stakeholders ahead of finalization.
This session targets TFFF Secretariat, TFC negotiators, donor governments, and civil society organizations seeking to shape a forest finance mechanism that delivers climate action with justice.
