We Need Your Help: Launching The ATX Writing Clubhouse
Hey y’all — we’re building something beautiful and we need your help to bring it to life!
ATX Writing Club is launching a campaign to secure our first-ever permanent home — a creative sanctuary in the heart of Austin. We’ve found the perfect house in the Rosedale neighborhood, just three minutes off MoPac, and we’d love to call it ours.
But first, we need to raise $48,000 to secure the lease and bring the space to life.
WHAT WE DO
My name is Zac Solomon, and for the past two years I’ve been working hard to build a communal space for writers, thinkers, artists, and entrepreneurs all around Austin.
The journey has been the thrill of my life and has exceeded my greatest expectations. We started humbly with just a handful of writers, working together early on Friday mornings at our local coffee shop. But we quickly outgrew that space, and the space after that, and now we host gatherings every other week where more than 120 writers come together to create.
In the past six months, we’ve expanded to book clubs, salon-style dinners, writing sessions, and workshops. We’ve also started a membership program that has become the beating heart of our community.
All the while, I had a dream I told very few people about — a dream of a physical space, a clubhouse, a sanctuary. So for nearly a year, I’ve been keeping my ear to the ground, looking for spaces that would feel like a home. And I'm glad to say we finally found it!
This new space will be our dedicated home for creativity — a place designed from the ground up for focused work, unhurried conversations, and real communal connection.
This will not be a coworking space. We’re building something better:
• A dedicated workshop for artists, writers, entrepreneurs and creative minds to focus on their craft, and get their best work done.
• A cozy, distraction-free retreat filled with books, beanbag chairs, desks, and couches. Where you can always find good people and great conversation.
• A place free from Zoom calls and multi-monitor setups (for real, they're not allowed)
• A space for stillness, deep thinking, and the types of conversations that will enrich your life.
THE SPACE
The space is a warm, thoughtfully designed house in Rosedale.
It will include:
A shared lounge for writing, reading, and conversation
A communal library filled with shelves upon shelves of books, meant to be read and shared.
A fully stocked kitchen and large table for shared meals, snacks, and salon-style discussions
Desks, couches, and beanbags arranged for both solo deep work and collaborative bursts
Overflowing plants, and greenery.
A minimalist, tech-light, distraction-free environment designed for doing your best work.
Every piece of furniture, every object, every book — will be chosen for comfort, warmth, and creativity. It will feel like home, if your home was always filled with brilliant, kind, creative people.
WHY WE’RE DOING IT
In Austin, there’s no shortage of coworking spaces and coffee shops. But what’s missing are creative spaces — places where the default mode is curiosity, not productivity. Where you can slow down, detach, and create your best work.
Writing Club isn’t just about writing, not really. It’s about creativity — and about building a culture that values art, ideas, and community more than output.
We live in a world that’s increasingly optimized for work. “Community spaces” are launched by real estate companies with venture backing that have no real connection to the people they aim to bring together.
Which means that local artists and creatives are relegated to the outskirts, with no meaningful places to gather.
That’s what we’re here to change.
This clubhouse is the culmination of a dream two years in the making.
A place where people linger and discuss ideas deep into the night. Where conversations spill over into the kitchen. Where a stranger becomes a collaborator and best friend.
It’s a space where members offer what they have, and that tide raises all ships.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
We’re raising $48,000 by June 12, 2025, to secure the lease, pay the deposit, and furnish the space for our July 1st opening.
Funds will cover:
• Lease & security deposit
• Insurance and city licensing
• Furniture and decor
• Bookshelves and lighting
• Fully stocked kitchen and appliances
• Everything needed to make the space feel like a creative refuge
Any extra funds raised will go directly into programming, hosting more events, and making the space even more welcoming for our members.
All Patron-level donors and above will be invited to our launch party. You’ll also be first to know when we open and will be forever part of the story we’re writing.
(Membership itself will remain invite-only and capped at 99 vetted members to keep the community intimate and meaningful.)

WHY IT MATTERS
The world doesn’t need more overpriced kombucha-serving office spaces that claim to be for creatives. The world needs more genuine community spaces — where people can think, create, and connect.
If you’ve ever wished for a space like this…
If you believe that art and neighborhood spaces make the world a better place…
If you want to be part of a project that brings beauty, creativity, and connection back into our daily lives.
We’d love your support.
This space will be filled with ideas, with laughter, with curiosity — because of YOU!
Even a small contribution helps build something big.
Let’s make Austin more creative, more communal, and a whole lot more interesting.
With deep gratitude,
Zac Solomon & the ATX Writing Club team
