How to Code Generative Art with 3C
(The Creative Coding Cohort)
Curious to code your own generative art work or just make sense of the basic mechanics to become a more knowledgeable collector?
Come join us for a 1 hour session where we will unpack some of the fundamentals of p5.js, share how we came together as a small cohort to learn and build together, and get you set up to code your first lines of generative art!

La Casa Divertida
La Casa Divertida (Spanish translation of “fun house”) was an interactive experience and installation during ArtBlocks weekend (September 21-24) in Marfa, Texas by the Creative Coding Cohort (3C), a cohort and collective of 4 self-taught generative artists.
The installation showcased the basic mechanics and principles of generative art. Participants were invited to play a series of four different lawn games, each generating an output that alters specific attributes of the original artwork source code, resulting in a generative iteration unique to each participant in real time.
Each artwork’s source code was then shared digitally to each respective participant and subsequently physically pen plotted onto two postcards - one copy will be given to the participant as a memento and another copy will be added to a growing web of artworks derived from the original source code.
We had over 70+ attendees come to La Casa Divertida and was featured in the anon web3 digital art newsletter, Medici Minutes:
"... shoutout to a group I felt didn’t get enough credit during all the madness in Marfa:
The Creative Coding Cohort - a group formed by Meredith Schipper, Parker Shipp, Regina Chien, and Veronica Chan - put on La Casa Divertida.
An IRL experience where people can play games to score points, which was then used by their algorithm to create generative postcards.
Love what they are doing to evangelize generative art via games & experiences. Suggest you learn more about them, their story of meeting at Marfa last year is heartwarming. Brava!"
The Creative Coding Cohort
The Creative Coding Cohort (3C) is composed of Meredith Schipper, Parker Shipp, Regina Chien, and Veronica Chan; four women from different parts of the country who attended Art Blocks weekend in Marfa last November 2022. After a transformative weekend in Marfa, they were inspired to self-organize and form a cohort with the intention of learning how to code and make generative art. They believe that anyone can learn to code and it is more fun doing it in community with others.
In January 2023, they formalized a cohort that has been meeting virtually every week. They began working together to teach themselves coding, troubleshoot bugs, and share their perspectives on the web3 landscape. Each week, they got to know each other more personally and formed a heartwarming, supportive friendship. They wish to share this positive experience of group learning with others, no matter if they are web3 natives or not, so that they may form their own cohorts and see where it takes them.
