About Event

Hosted by: Mihyun Lee & Chiara Paola Ratti

This half-day immersive workshop invites you to move through the patterns of life itself, guided by the body, held by nature’s principles, and awakened by the principles of Contact Improvisation. We explore how life’s principles are embodied in the dance between people via the integration of feedback and sensing the body as the landscape. In this exploration, the group becomes an ecosystem, and the moments are the manifestation of the living system. We co-create a place for feeling, rewilding, and re-membering that we are already nature.

No prior experience with Contact Improvisation is needed. What is needed is your curiosity, presence, and a willingness to explore.

About the facilitators:

Mihyun Lee studied Korean Dance, Choreography, Somatic Psychology, and Laban/Bartenieff Movement Analysis. For about 30 years of practicing dance professionally shaped her understanding of the primal nature of the body and its expression. Her service is oriented towards promoting psychological well-being through physiological practice. By utilizing Laban/Bartenieff Movement Analysis, she established her Somatic Movement Therapy practice and Psychotherapy approach called Kinesiopsychotherapy. As a Somatic Movement Therapist, she serves adult individuals, couples, and groups in San Francisco and Seoul, South Korea. As a Mental Health Clinician, she serves 0-5-year-old clients with their families at an organization in Alameda County.

Chiara Paola Ratti is Biomimicry Practitioner, and Facilitator Former Architect with a transdisciplinary background in environmental architecture, social innovation, education, and embodied practices. She has worked internationally across Australia, Europe, and the US, developing participatory processes and learning experiences inspired by living systems. Her current focus lies in integrating biomimicry, the practice of learning from nature’s intelligence to inspire regenerative ways of living and placemaking as tools to explore how we relate to ourselves, others, and the natural world. She is the founder of the Lichens Project, an evolving platform for creative experimentation, regenerative facilitation, and collective reimagination. Her work weaves together facilitation, somatic intelligence, and systems thinking to support communities, teams, and individuals in becoming more resilient, connected, and alive.

We don’t want costs to be a barrier to attend. If the listed price is a barrier, feel free to reach out to chiarapaola.ratti@gmail.com and we can figure something out.
