Pilates for Balance & Fall Prevention
This specialised Pilates class is designed to enhance strength, balance, and mobility to help reduce the risk of falls, particularly for older adults. Drawing on the evidence-based OTAGO Exercise Program, this class integrates functional strength training and targeted balance exercises with core-focused Pilates techniques.
Participants will work through a structured series of exercises that focus on:
Lower limb strengthening (ankles, knees, hips) to support mobility and stability
Dynamic balance training to improve reaction time and confidence during movement
Core stability and posture using Pilates principles to enhance control and alignment
Functional movements such as stepping, reaching, and transitioning from sitting to standing
Led by a trained instructor with experience in fall prevention and senior fitness, this class progresses gradually, allowing participants to work at their own pace in a supportive and safe environment. Ideal for those who are active but want to maintain or improve their balance, or for anyone with a history of falls or concerns about stability.
