How (and why) to set up a Housing Co-op
The ongoing (and fully intentional) housing crisis, forces many of us into precarious, unhealthy and unaffordable housing. Many of us hand over a substantial part of our income to parasitic landlords. But there is an alternative!
In this workshop we will hear from experienced cooperators about setting up and running a housing co-op and the process involved.
We will cover:
• What’s it like to live in a housing co-op?
• The types of properties and living arrangements
• Housing co-op finances - where does the money come from?
• Rules, structures and group dynamics
• What help is available from the co-op movement
There will be time for questions and we will encourage participants to speak to each other and form new co-ops!
The closest station is St James Street overground. The venue has step free access and contains an accessible toilet.
No need to register, just turn up.
