


Enhancing Accessibility: Understanding DeafBlindness in the Workplace
This session explores how workplaces can become more inclusive and accessible for individuals who are DeafBlind by taking a person-centered approach. Participants will gain a foundational understanding of dual sensory loss and how it uniquely impacts communication, mobility, and access to information in employment settings.
Key topics will include:
🔸The diverse experiences of people living with DeafBlindness.
🔸Common challenges faced in workplace environments.
🔸Person-centered strategies to remove barriers and foster independence.
🔸Tools, technologies, and communication methods that support accessibility.
🔸Simple adaptations employers can make to improve inclusion and reduce barriers.
Attendees will leave with practical knowledge and real-world strategies to help create more equitable workplaces—ensuring that employees with combined vision and hearing loss are supported, empowered, and able to succeed.
