Do you have locked up hips? Tight hamstrings? Stiff lower back? Gravity Yoga is a targeted mobility training method that works to open up your body. Each week will focus on a different part of the body. You will need a few props which you can manage with things around the house if you do not have them: yoga blocks can be substituted with firm pillows, yoga strap can be substituted with a belt. You may need a cushion (can use that firm pillow). And a stool may be beneficial for those with very limited mobility.
In this series, I will walk you through the poses through demonstration and verbal cues. This will not be verbally interactive, I ask that you all stay on mute throughout the class but I will be able to see you and make corrections as needed. There is no right or wrong in gravity yoga, it is about releasing into the stretch allowing the body to do what it needs to. Let me qualify that by saying, this is not relaxing yoga...it can get uncomfortable because we are holding poses for 2-5 mins and our mind likes to throw road blocks at us during that time. There is a good chance you will be uncomfortable but that is ok! We listen to our body and do what we can. All ages are welcome. This is not just for students, many of us parents need this in our lives!
