About Speaker and Talk 1:
Karthikayan is a Solution Engineer at Confluent, specializing in Apache Kafka®️ and Confluent Platform. He leverages his expertise in IBM, Red Hat, and open-source technologies to help organizations build real-time data pipelines and derive actionable insights.
Apache Kafka is an event streaming platform used to collect, process, store, and integrate data at scale. It has numerous use cases including distributed logging, stream processing, data integration, and pub/sub messaging.
In order to make complete sense of what Kafka does, we’ll delve into what an “event streaming platform” is and how it works. So before delving into Kafka architecture or its core components, let’s discuss what an event is. This will help explain how Kafka stores events, how to get events in and out of the system, and how to analyze event streams.
About Speaker and Talk 2:
Xinyu Zhou is the co-founder and CTO of AutoMQ, a company offering cloud-native Kafka service. Previously, he led messaging and streaming products at Alibaba Cloud. Xinyu is an member of the Apache foundation, a PMC member for Apache RocketMQ and the Apache Incubator, and he mentors the Apache Amoro project, which focuses on lakehouse management for modern data lakes.
In this session, we'll explore AutoMQ's cloud-native architecture and its advantages over Apache Kafka. We'll delve into its latest Table Topic capabilities, which seamlessly transform streaming data into Iceberg format, transitioning from shared storage to shared data architectures. We'll also discuss integration with AWS S3 Tables and AWS Athena for a unified analytics solution. Additionally, we'll examine common use cases for Table Topic, showcasing its practical applications in today's data-driven landscape.
