Flyer and hang at Vallejo
Hand out flyers at Vallejo to support California transit funding. Afterwards we can grab a bite to eat together.
Flyering will mostly occur downtown - relevant routes here
Logistics:
Ferry schedule here. Unfortunately you will be responsible for the transit costs on the ferry.
1) We are taking the ferry to Vallejo from SF downtown @ 10:25am GATE E and will arrive at Vallejo at 11:25am
2) If people would like to depart early there are a few ferries from Vallejo leaving from 2:45pm, 3:50pm, 4:40pm. Officially the we will be leaving Vallejo at around 3:50 PM.
Soltrans budget background:
"Ridership recovered... but since August 2024 was still approximately 20% below pre-pandemic levels."
SolTrans seeks to eliminate Solano bus routes to increase frequency
"Ridership is returning but fare revenue is still significantly lower than prior year due to the pandemic and federal pandemic relief funds for Local fixed route has been expended."
FY24-25 proposed budget:
seems like the still depend a decent amount of 1 time pandemic relief funds. Approx 3.5 million from SB 125 Transit Relief Funds and ARPA (American Rescue Plan) are used in FY 24-25 budget which represents ~15% of their total budget.
They lost their Local routes because of the above.
Tl;DR:
Soltrans is currently recovering but needs more funds from the state to recover ridership and give time for them to adapt.
