Conscious AI Meetup: Could we tell if LLMs were conscious?

​We would like to welcome you to another event of the Salon of the California Institute of Machine Consciousness!

​Today's frontier models are doing a great job at simulating human interaction, including self-reflection and theory of mind (the recognition/modeling of mental states of others). They beat the Turing Test and even the Mirror Test. What distinguishes these feats from the abilities of conscious beings? How anthropomorphic is the "mind" of an LLM? Could we test for consciousness?
