Honghao Deng is the CEO and Co-founder of Butlr. Butlr develops sensors that use AI to analyze customer behavior and provide insights for businesses to improve their operations.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Butlr developed ceiling-mounted sensors capable of detecting body heat and tracking people's movements indoors. Their technology helped businesses understanding how customers navigate their stores and maintain social distancing measures. To date, Butlr has raised $33 million from leading investors, such as Tiger and Qualcomm Ventures.
Prior to co-founding Butlr, Honghao was as a researcher at the City Science Group and the MIT Media Lab. He has won several awards, including Forbes' 30 Under 30 in 2022, Time Magazine's The 100 Best Inventions of 2021, the Architizer A+ Award in the Smart Building Technology Category in 2020, and Fast Company Innovation by Design in 2020.
