About the Session:
As health tech changes healthcare we find that some of the common approaches in other industries may not work in health, and that some of the obvious applications of tech to health problems may lead to more problems rather than solutions. And yet, every week we see companies funded based on blurry evidence on their long term success. These obvious things are false friends. They can be powerful but need to be approached with caution or even avoided entirely. In this session Greg will present 7 examples of false friends in health tech and provide some "how might we" challenges to help you navigate these complexities.

About the Speaker:

Greg designs new ways for companies of all sizes to thrive and make money by approaching real world problems with unique solutions. He works at the intersection of research, strategic foresight, and ventures design using frameworks that seek to understand context at every layer of each solution - from individuals all the way to society and policy- then de-risking solutions by prototyping and testing to understand the right opportunities to build, buy or partner.

Greg’s recent experience includes behavioral change design for people experiencing health conditions across the cardio-metabolic continuum, synthetic population design for quantitative health research, nutrition and natural nutritionals design, whole plant medicine (psychoactive and non-psychoactive) chronic pain, neurodiversity, food chain of supply and mobility solutions for suburban living.

In his spare time he leads the San Francisco chapter of the Design Futures Initiative, builds and rides bikes, and often fails miserably at trying to discipline his two very stubborn rescue Frenchies.
