Each month NESF supports local families to provide groceries to low-income families in the community and Per Scholas Newark is a part of this ongoing mission!
We'd love to have you come stop by to contribute your time and hard work with Newark Emergency Services for Families. As an award for your services, you will rewarded with a Letter of Recommendation or a Volunteering Verification Letter. Alumni are welcome to stay part-time or full-time throughout this engagement.
Volunteering Shifts
Half Time: 2-4 Hours
Full Time: 4-6 Hours
Agenda
8:00 AM - 12:00 PM - Unloading
1:00 PM - 4:30 PM - Prep, Food Bagging
Volunteer Responsibilities
The responsibilities for the agenda include unloading and sorting food items, followed by bagging the food for distribution. There will also be tasks involving storing food, unloading and bagging produce, and preparing for distribution. On the final day, the focus will be on managing the distribution process and breaking down the setup after the event.
Volunteer Expectations
Punctuality: Arrive on time for your shift and stay until tasks are completed.
Teamwork: Work collaboratively with other volunteers and staff to ensure smooth operations.
Efficiency & Safety: Follow instructions and handle food items safely, completing tasks promptly.
Professionalism: Maintain a positive attitude, respect others, and demonstrate a strong work ethic.
Cleanup: Assist with breakdown and clean-up after the distribution event.
