About Event

On May 16, 2023 - Primary Election Day - approximately 200K city voters will vote to choose our city's next Mayor. Let's work together to make sure Philly has a mayor that works with us, not just for us.

We welcome curious citizens, Independent & small business owners, issue groups, and fellow advocates to join us in tracking the State of the Race 2023.

If you care about the future of Philadelphia, and change through unity and coordination, this event is for you.

During this free event, 10k Independents' Director of Policy and Advocacy Anne Gemmell will share our latest analysis of the upcoming race, and the status of the active candidates, along with specific strategies for how you can get involved in supporting your favorite candidates.

You'll leave with:

  • Helpful context and updates since our first State of the Race in December

  • Early review of the candidates campaign finance reports

  • Details about the petition process that starts on February 14th

  • An opportunity to ask questions about the election process

  • Guidance and strategies for how you can get involved in supporting your candidates

This event is free and online, but RSVP is required to attend.

If you cannot attend this date, sign up for our free events newsletter to be notified when we announce our next activities.

Note: The 10k Independents Project is not backing any specific candidates. Our agenda is transparent, and our organization is led by engaged citizens and small business owners. We aren’t here to tell you what to think, or even ask you for money.

Instead, we’re working to coordinate and unify our networks and communities to ensure our next Mayor works with us, not just for us.

We want to meet you where you are. No political wonkery, just talking to each other like the neighbors and fellow citizens we are.

We believe Philly needs a better plan. Do you?

The 10k Independents Project is a coalition of people and orgs working together to shape the landscape of our city by advocating for the existing Independent workforce, and helping 10,000 Philadelphians become sustainably self-employed over the next 10 years.

We know that real change requires unity and coordination, and we want to ensure that our next mayor is aligned with our collective interests.

Not just the interests of the small business community, but for anyone who wants Philly to do economic development differently.
