Anouk Ruhaak: privacy law & how to take big tech to court
How can we hold Big Tech accountable for privacy violations?
We have the laws and regulations, and regulators are issuing fines, yet tech companies continue to collect and share our personal data, often without valid consent. With the rise of large language models, the hunger for our data has only intensified.
Anouk Ruhaak is the chair of SDBN, a Dutch foundation that uses class actions and other civil litigation to enforce GDPR compliance, taking companies like X, Adobe, and Amazon to court for privacy violations like illegal tracking and profiling. At this seminar she will share her work and discuss what it takes to challenge Big Tech in court.
Anouk Ruhaak is a fellow of Newspeak House, previously a Senior Fellow for the Mozilla Foundation, and has a background in data governance, software development, and political science.
