TEARS Retrospective Community Gathering
TEARS Program End-of-Year Town Hall 2024
Event Description:
Join us for the TEARS program's inaugural end-of-year retrospective, an open gathering to reflect on the journey of our first residents at the off-grid Earthship. This session is dedicated to reviewing our 2024 residency experiences, highlighting both the successes and the challenges faced by residents in navigating this unique environment and experiment in self-reliance. We’ll discuss key learnings from their time spent in the solitude and silence of the desert, along with valuable feedback on living and creating in a minimalist off-grid space.
Together, we’ll explore:
- Successes and Challenges: Sharing candid insights into what has worked well, such as the space’s reflective, meditative nature, and what needs improvement, including infrastructure upgrades and road access challenges.
- Structural Enhancements for 2025: Envisioning how the TEARS program can better support future residents by refining onboarding processes, expanding practical resources (e.g., comprehensive maps, emergency contacts), and creating shared documentation or a “knowledge garden” to foster continuity.
- Collective Vision for Community Engagement and Growth: As we plan for the future, we’ll discuss pathways to integrate more diverse perspectives, support multi-disciplinary residents, and potentially add more communal gathering spaces to strengthen connections both on-site and with the local community.
This event is a chance to align on our vision, receive input from past residents, and explore ways to cultivate a sustainable, supportive, and inspiring program in 2025 and beyond. We invite you to join us as we build the future of TEARS.
