Data In Power - Workshop
Data and the distribution of decision-making power is an increasingly important dynamic to understand and engage with in climate, energy and sustainability. Who is collecting, analyzing, and presenting data - how and why? These are the hard-hitting questions we will unpack.
This workshop edition features group discussion and activities focused on examples of data collection, analysis, and presentation in climate, energy, and sustainability. For instance, how do different data collection, analysis, or presentation methods influence energy infrastructure investments? Is it possible for two climate stakeholders to analyze the same data collected and come to opposing conclusions? These are the types of complex and nuanced themes that have emerged from previous Data In Power gatherings and the first of this workshop series is a place for us to connect deeper on questions like this. Here is a video with some background on Data In Power's focus within data and the distribution of decision-making power.
Data In Power is facilitated by Crystal Soo, a Utility Rates & Regulatory Affairs expert. This first workshop is hosted in collaboration with Jain Family Institute (JFI), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit applied research organization with a mission to apply the instruments and frameworks of finance to issues of global policy concern. JFI works to understand and coordinate international channels of state and private resources by applying data, modeling, and simulation tools to big challenges.
