About Event

An afternoon/evening of collaborative climate action, hosted by a climate tech angel investor.

Planet Earth has survived uninterrupted for millennial without much trouble, but the rise and development of human civilization has brought the Earth's fragile ecosystem nearly to its breaking point. How can we return back to an equilibrium state where we are one with nature?

It all starts with humanity acknowledging, learning about, and taking action in the fight against climate change. Want to get involved on a deeper level and contribute your experience, skills, and knowledge in developing innovative climate solutions? Join together with other climate-minded humans and hack for a sustainable future!

12:30pm: Welcome, Opening remarks, Open Mic Idea Proposals, & Team formation

1pm-2:30pm: Sprint #1 - Ideation Session - Work in teams to develop the group's proposed solution.

2:30pm-3pm: Open Mic Updates and Break

3pm - 4:30pm: Sprint #2 - Operation Session - Develop a plan of how you'd Land, then Expand your solution.

4:30pm-4:50pm: Presentation prep - Work out your presentation to the Judges!

4:50pm: Judge Introductions and Group Presentations!

5:30pm: Final Voting and Event Conclusion!

5:45pm: Doors Close in prep of next event. (RSVP here if you'd like to join the evening Game Night event!)

What To Address/Build For:

  • Challenge #1: Carbon Capture Storage

    • How do we catch carbon?

    • Where do we put it?

  • Challenge #2: Circular Economy

    • How do we transition from a linear economy (Take-Make-Waste Model) to a circular economy?

    • What needs to change to make our current supply chains more sustainable and regenerative?

  • Challenge #3: Clean Energy Transition

    • How do we transition from a fossil fuel burning world to a clean energy society?

    • What needs to be done to make renewable energy sources (solar, wind, marine, etc.) more affordable and accessible to all?

  • Challenge #4: Climate Finance

    • How do we divest from financial institutions that support fossil fuel projects?

    • What can we do to use money as a force for good in the fight against climate change?

Judging Criteria:

  • Impact
    How much impact would a solution have in solving the addressed challenge?

  • Feasibility
    ​Is the solution realistic in terms of the technological, legal and other aspects?

  • Implementation
    How much was done on the hackathon in terms of making a real tech solution?

  • Originality
    ​Is the solution original and creative, is it using the latest technologies?
