About Event

Hosted by Katie M. Duarte, PhD Candidate in Sociology at Brown University Our spring book club kicks off with LOCA by Alejandro Heredia —a gripping novel that delves into themes of queerness, race, diaspora, and survival in the Bronx. Guided by MCSC member and scholar Katie Duarte, The LOCA Book Club will run virtually from April 10 to May 9, with weekly sessions hosted via Zoom and guided by Katie. Each week, we'll explore a new section of the book, dive into powerful themes, and reflect together in community. Whether you're joining from NYC or beyond, you're welcome to participate from anywhere!

And here’s the exciting part—on April 29, we’ll gather in person in New York City for an exclusive meet-and-greet with the author, Alejandro Heredia! This will be a beautiful moment to connect face-to-face, ask questions, and celebrate the story with the writer behind it. So grab your copy of LOCA here.
