Climate Imaginarium 2025 Opening Party on Governors Island
Welcome Back!
We're back for our second season on Governors Island at the Climate Imaginarium! The Climate Imaginarium is a center for climate, community, and culture, operated by a coalition of universities, cultural institutions, media organizations, and arts nonprofits. Last summer, we welcomed nearly 5,000 visitors through 100+ events, exhibitions, performances, and film screenings that responded to the climate crisis with solutions and visions for hope and justice. We're returning with big plans for 2025!
Join us at Building 406A on Colonels Row for a lively celebration of climate art, storytelling, and community. Exhibitions will be open to the public at noon, and the party will officially start at 1pm. All donations will support programming in our zero-waste arts center and community space.
Featuring:
Artwork from our Climate Imaginarium community, featuring an exhibit by Hank Lewis and Wilton Lewis.
Climate storytelling and poetry by the NYC Climate Writers Collective.
Upcycled crafts with Climate Cafe NYC.
Book swap & action with the Brooklyn chapter of Citizens' Climate Lobby.
Live music by Sam Shaffery.
Appetizers by La Bakeria by Algeria Vegana.
All are welcome! If the building reaches capacity, feel free to visit neighboring houses first.
Book Swap with CCL (1-2 pm): Join us in collaboration with the Brooklyn chapter of Citizens' Climate Lobby (CCL)—a nonprofit focused on passing legislation that addresses the climate crisis—for a book swap!
Bring a climate-themed book that you're willing to part with, and walk away with a new book to love and learn from. Attendees will be encouraged to share a bit about their book and what they learned from it with the group.
We're using the term "climate book" loosely: Feel free to bring any books that discuss nature, health, social justice, or any other topics that fall under the intersectional umbrella of climate change. Stick around after the swap to take action to push for climate reform with CCL.
