Theme: Can technology create a new golden age for cities?

(hosted by Anirudh Pai)

Cities have always inspired the best minds to think bigger and to develop new forms of technology and commerce – the most notable examples, of course, are the cities that make up Silicon Valley, Vienna in the early 20th century, and Kaifeng & Hangzhou during the Song dynasty – China's golden age.

Cities and technology have always been intertwined at a deep level – modernity, it could be said, was bred alongside the technological creations of the ancients like the Romans who invented the aquaduct. But in our time, cities in the western world have become nefarious cesspools of chaos; rampant homelessness and other forms of degradation are forcing people to move to greener pastures. We must start anew and fix these issues.

Therefore, is it possible that technology can create a new golden age for cities?
