Red Heron Presents: Scando the Darklord & Afterthought
Red Heron presents a night of musical performances by Scando The Darklord and Afterthought
Scando the Darklord - Scando The Darklord, also known as Scandy The Sithlord, hails from East Vallejo, California — Bridgeside to be exact. Known for his clever rhyme schemes and a wide range of cadences, Scando crafts a sound uniquely his own, never following trends or merging into other lanes. Deeply influenced by the late Mac Dre, his music captures the darker side of life with unapologetic authenticity. As he puts it: “It ain’t sunny — it’s super dark. Hello, somebody.”
Afterthought - Afterthought is a San Francisco-based rapper, producer, and songwriter blending hip-hop, jazz, R&B, and soul into a sound that is both dynamic and deeply rooted. Shaped by his experience growing up in the foster care and adoption systems, his music is built on the principle of Family First—a theme that runs through his storytelling, collaborations, and live performances.
His album Communal Healing was named one of 2023’s best by NPR (KQED), and he has worked with jazz greats Roy Nathanson, Theon Cross, and Steamdown, as well as Bay Area staples Nef The Pharaoh and Mistah F.A.B. His work has also been recognized by hip-hop veterans like B-Legit and emerging voices like Dizzy Wright.
As the leader of The Top Chefs, Afterthought drives a high-energy live band that has performed on stages across the U.S., U.K., Europe, and South America, including SF MOMA, San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park, The Midway SF, Barbican Hall London, Chelsea Music Hall NYC, and Vienna Hofburg Royal Palace. Whether at festivals, jazz clubs, corporate events, or weddings, their performances bridge genres and bring audiences together.
Beyond music, Afterthought is a youth counselor and community advocate, using his platform to uplift underrepresented voices. His work continues to push the boundaries of live performance while staying rooted in collaboration and connection.
