2025 Poppy's 5K Run/Walk for life & Celebration of life 1K Run/Walk
Bee Abled has been invited to participate in the 2025 Poppy's 5K Run/Walk for life & Celebration of life 1K Run/Walk.
This race is to honor those who have died by suicide and those who are forever affected by suicide. Proceeds will again go to the Montrose Center and Alexander JFS Houston which offer suicide prevention and awareness. Poppy’s Run for Life is recognized as a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization.
Caryn Honig is the founder and director of Poppy's Run For Life. Caryn's father and grandfather both died by suicide, forever changing her life as well as the lives of family, friends and loved ones. They are not alone. Suicide is on the rise and is a leading cause of death in the US with 45,979 deaths in 2020. This is about one death every 11 minutes. The number of people who attempt or think about suicide is even higher. Suicide affects the health and well-being of surviving family, friends, co-workers, loved ones and the community.
Bee Abled is sponsoring this race for all athletes with disabilities (AWD’s) who meet the requirements. If Bee Abled sponsors your race, you MUST wear your Bee Abled gear on race day and if you're active on social media, post and tag "Bee Abled". This helps us with exposure and funding so we can continue doing races and other events. Don't forget to include the following hashtags: #beeabled #beelievers #findyourpossible #accomplishtheimpossible #possibilitiesnotdisabilities #Poppys5K #Poppys1K #suicideprevention #celebrationoflife
Bee Abled will do a group packet pick up for those joining team Bee Abled. Bee Abled will have a tent for this event.
Guides for the 5K and 1K are needed.
If you are interested in participating as an athlete or guide, please RSVP in Luma so we can get you registered ASAP!
