✍🏼 WORKSHOP: Speculative Fiction and World-Building with Hanna Thomas Uose
** This is a LIVE workshop. Attendees will be sent a video recording after the workshop. **
What if you could create an entirely new world from scratch? How would it work? What rules would govern it? And, most importantly, how would your story unfold within it?
In this workshop, award-winning author Hanna Thomas Uose will guide you through the imaginative and exhilarating process of crafting speculative fiction. Together, we’ll explore how to ask the essential "what if" questions that form the foundation of the genre, build the rules of your imagined worlds, and discover a way into your story.
Whether you're new to speculative fiction or looking to deepen your practice, this session will leave you inspired and equipped to bring your unique worlds to life.
This workshop will include writing exercises designed to spark your imagination and develop your world-building skills. We’ll also Q&A, where Hanna will answer your questions and offer insights into the craft of speculative fiction.
We’ll also explore:
Dive into speculative fiction by asking meaningful “what if” questions.
Develop the rules and logic of your imaginary worlds.
Approach world-building in an accessible, step-by-step way.
Find the seed of a new story waiting to be explored.
Use writing exercises to unlock creativity and develop your ideas.
All you need to bring is something to write with and an open mind!
