Bonus Issue: Buy US Stocks but from NSE?

Thursday was a big day for the Indian Stock Markets. Why?
Indians can now invest in US stocks through NSE's IFSC.

How does this impact you? And what can you buy? Dive in:

Cost: One of the most significant drawbacks of overseas investing was the cost structure. This should help bring down the cost of US-based investing over time.

Access to More Markets: With this opening, we can certainly hope for more overseas markets to be introduced giving a wider exposure. (Of course, this will have its downfalls as well.)

Partial Buying: Unlike Indian Equities, you will be permitted to buy partial shares of the companies listed instead of buying one complete share, since the prices of the shares can be as high as $3000.

Eligible brokers will allow for investing in 8 stocks. These are -

1. Meta Platforms - $FB (Facebook)
2. Alphabet - $GOOGL (Google)
3. Amazon - $AMZN
4. Tesla - $TSLA
5. Microsoft - $MSFT
6. Netflix - $NFLX
7. Apple - $AAPL
8. Walmart - $WMT

More shares would soon be added taking it to a total of 50 shares.
Please visit NSE's website for a detailed list of stocks soon to be added.

Please note, this is not a direct listing.

Market makers will buy these shares in the US and issue receipts here in India.

These receipts are called NSE IFSC receipts and they are what you will be buying and selling.

Cheers!
