How to own exclusive rights to a movie?

Well for most of us, investing in movies is a far-fetched option. Precisely because of the huge amount of investment required to do so.

Say 100 crores? Also, consider the fact that most movies rarely break even. So the risk is also huge.

Simultaneously, for a movie producer, it's quite tough to raise 500-1000 cr budgets, especially if you are a newbie.

Well, the dynamics are changing and movie producers and people are finding new alternatives.

But what if, just like buying a stock, you could own the exclusive right to a movie? Think about owning the exclusive rights to RRR or any other 1000-crore Indian film, or James Bond film.

Exciting right?

Well, this is exactly where the NFTs seems to be headed next.

Movie producers are now raising funds, by issuing NFTs that act as movie rights. So you now have a share in the revenue and any profits generated. Also, think about a remake.

Recently, the Hollywood movie: 'Antara' raised 50 million dollars, by dropping an NFT and granting investors a share in the box office and streaming revenues. The first to do so, but not quite long until others follow.

Will the NFT winter pivot and actually have a better use case? Time will tell.

Cheers!
