When UX rules don’t work: Designing for African realities
About this session
This session will explore why many widely accepted UX principles fall short when applied in African contexts. I’ll share real examples of how infrastructure limitations, device constraints, cultural nuances, and digital literacy gaps impact user behaviour, and how we can design more effective, relevant, and human-centered products by embracing local realities instead of copying global rules.
Key takeaways
A deeper understanding of why conventional UX rules often fail in African contexts.
Practical strategies for designing products that align with the real needs, behaviors, and constraints of African users.
Real-world examples and lessons from designing for fintech, edtech, health, and everyday platforms across Africa.
