If you do not opt-out by June 28th, 2021, it will be too late. 
What is the Deadline to Opt-Out of Monthly Payments?
To stop the monthly payments, you must opt out 3 days before the first Thursday of next month by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time.
For example to not receive payments for July you must opt out by June 28th, 2021.
To not receive payments for August you must opt out by August 2nd, 2021.
You do not have to opt out each month. Once you opt-out once, you are good.







What Happens if I miss the deadline?
You will continue to receive the scheduled monthly payments until the IRS processes your request to opt out.
How long does it take to process my request to opt-out?
Up to 7 calendar days.
If I Opt-Out, can I Opt back In?

Just because you qualify for the monthly child tax credit, does not mean you should take it.
While the IRS is using older income information to deliver the monthly payments, the credit you actually qualify for is ultimately determined by your 2021 income and the correct amount will be determined when you file your taxes in 2022
Starting on July 15th qualifying families will receive $300 each kid ages 0-5
$250 for each kid ages 6-17
You will receive the full amount if you make less than $75,000 single, $112,500 Head of Household, and $150,000 Married filing jointly
So there are two groups of people that should consider opting out.
People whose income drastically increases may find themselves owing money back when they file their taxes in 2022
People might also receive too much in monthly payments if they have a child who no longer qualifies as a dependent in 2021 but was accurately claimed on the 2019 or 2020 tax return, which might be the case for parents that alternate years.
Under no circumstance will will the parent that is not claiming the child in 2021 have to payback the monthly payments if they make less than:
$40,000 Single,
$50,000 Head of Household,
and $60,000 Married Filing Jointly
The IRS is expected release a portal in a couple of weeks that will allow people to opt out of the monthly payments, add the birth of a child, and update direct deposit information
If you choose to opt out of the monthly payments you will receive the child tax credit all at once when you file your taxes in 2022

Blue is saying this is a one time deal 
But red is saying this is only going to get worse and it’s because of all the stimulus checks and unemployment benefits

The White House just announced a partnership with Uber and Lyft to offer free rides to vaccination sites until July 4th. 


Lyft said they will be giving out a "ride code"  by May 24th.


The goal is to have 70% of the population vaccinated.


There are now 8 states rejecting the extra $300 payment for the unemployment 


Alabama, Arkansas, Iowa, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, South Carolina, and Tennessee.


Georgia might be next.


They are saying that the money encourages people to stay home rather than get a job


The other side is saying that ain't true


The main reason why people are not returning to work is that jobs refuse to pay a fair wage


So I did some research 


And the U.S. national average hourly wage for someone who works in food or as a cashier is $11.80 or $1,888/mo. 


So in your opinion do you think it’s because of unemployment or unfair wages why people are not returning to work?
