Real World Cryptography Paris Meetup 2
Welcome to the Real World Cryptography Paris (RWC Paris) Meetups! Our goal is to bring together enthusiasts, professionals, and academics to discuss the latest advancements in cryptography. Whether you're an experienced cryptographer, a software engineer, or someone with a keen interest in the field, our meetups offer a platform to learn, share, and network.
Join us for an evening of insightful talks, discussions, and networking. Light refreshments will be provided.

Back After a Great First Event!
Building up on the success of our previous event, Meetup 2 aims to provide a better experience in a more suited space, with awesome talks that we hope will capture your attention. This time, we're asking for an entrance fee of 10 Euros. One hundred percent of this fee will go towards providing you with a better event, helping to pay for catering and the space itself, in addition to the funding provided by our sponsors.
The event will include awesome talks, as well as opportunities to network, with catering provided.
Meetup 2 Schedule
The schedule for the meetup is as follows:
19:00 - Announcements
Welcome announcements and a short blurb about the event.
19:15 - "Hashing Structured Data, How Hard Can That Be?" by Denis Varlakov, Dfns
We all love hash functions. They are simple yet powerful and irreplaceable building block in cryptography. But don’t get tricked by their simplicity, they are in fact extremely easy to misuse! This talk will cover hashing structured data, (un)ambiguous encoding, typical approaches to this problem and how they often result into vulnerabilities that break security of entire protocol and finally, a solution to the problem. All with examples in Rust!
19:35 - "STARK -> Signature Scheme? Deets and Numbers" by Cyprien de Saint Guilhem, 3MI Labs
Signatures schemes can be built from Sigma protocols for hard problems. STARKs are fancy Sigma protocols for any problem. Let’s pick a hard problem that is STARK-friendly, make a signature scheme out of it, and see how bad it is (surprisingly, not that bad!)
19:50 - "Sharing Encryption Keys From Your Ledger" by Pierre Pollastri & Vincent Bouzon, Ledger
A quick overview of a protocol that lets you share your encryption keys with your Ledger in total privacy.
20:05 - "Building a Provable Chess Engine Using Hylé and ZK-Email" by Matteo, Independent Researcher
I will present how the global architecture of the project and how to leverage compositions of multiple proofs to achieve one goal. I will also make a demo.
20:30 - Food & Drinks (Sponsored by Hylé and Symbolic Software)
Yum yum! Our incredible sponsors provide you with things that you can eat while you talk to each other, hopefully not at exactly the same time.
Our Incredible Sponsors
We would like to express our gratitude to our sponsors StarkWare, OSTIF, Hylé and Symbolic Software, for their support in making this meetup possible and providing refreshments for our attendees.
About StarkWare
StarkWare is pioneering cutting-edge solutions in scalable blockchain technologies. Their innovations in STARK-based cryptographic proofs are pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in secure and efficient blockchain ecosystems. We’re excited to have them on board as they continue to shape the future of decentralized applications.
About OSTIF
OSTIF (Open Source Technology Improvement Fund) is a global leader in advancing open-source security. By providing financial and logistical support to critical open-source security projects, OSTIF plays a vital role in enhancing the safety and reliability of the software infrastructure we all depend on.
About Zama
Zama is an open source cryptography company building state-of-the-art Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE) solutions for blockchain and AI. Check them out!
About Hylé
Hylé is your minimal layer one, focused only on verifying zero-knowledge proofs. By sending a simple proof to be verified on Hylé, you can build a fully off-chain application powered by ZKPs that still has the security guarantees of the blockchain.
About Symbolic Software
Symbolic Software is an applied cryptography outfit based in Paris that champions global digital security through extensive services, including security audits, cryptographic protocol design, and formal verification. We pride ourselves on delivering over 250 comprehensive software and cryptographic audits for clients worldwide and advancing the field of applied cryptography with our research software.
